Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 [Posted on 2008-12-24] I have been a user of Adobe Photoshop Elements since Version 5. Several months ago, I upgraded to Version 6 and immediately began having problems with the software shutting down unexpectedly when editing photos. Adobe was no help at all in resolving the problem. I quit using the software (found Picasssa works pretty well) for awhile and then decided to upgrade to Version 7.0. Guess what? Same problem occurred with that version. When I first open the software in editing mode, it seems to load okay, and then I get the error message that says it has to shut down. Once again, the only suggestions you get from Adobe is like the advice from Microsoft when the same thing happens to their operating systems: sorry! I am using a computer with XP Pro, 2 GB memory, 3.02GHZ P4 processor and over 500GB of drive space. I have read complaints from others having the same problem on both versions. Unfortunatey most users are on their own in coming up with fixes to broken software. I may have to reinstall Version 5 to get software that works properly, and live without some of the newer features. I would hestitate to recommend this upgrade to anyone based on my personal experience with it.
Get out your wallet [Posted on 2008-12-24] Had version 5, when I moved a new computer & reinstall just a year later found that the plugin for my Nikon camera was no longer available on the adobe web site, forced to 'upgrade' to a new version for close to full price. They want you to keep on buying, so watch out. Makes the free versions much more compelling.
Adobe Elements 7 [Posted on 2008-12-27] Elements 7 is a vast improvement over Elements 5. I like the product - it's one of the best in the industary.
Great photo organizing software!!! [Posted on 2008-12-27] GOODS: - Allows multiple filter levels (person/place/event) to organize your pictures.
- Easy amateur photo editing
- Sharing prints with shutterfly is drag and drop...very easy
OTHERS: - Initial program load can take awhile
- auto face recognize utility misses a lot of faces.
This software is great! I used elements 6.0 for awhile and this upgrade is well worth it. I have a lot of family that are not computer savvy at all so having the ability to drag and drop a bunch of pictures to their name and one click sends an order is very easy and convenient.
I cannot accurately rate the photo editing as I get lost trying to use photoshop CSE. Anything I want to do with a photo I can without any trouble so I think it is great based on my limited photo editing experience.
I recommend this product if you want to organize all your pictures.
A Ripoff [Posted on 2008-12-27] I was forced to buy this so called upgrade because Adobe refuses to issue a RAW fix for the Canon G10 for my Photoshop Elements 5.0. They have issued a RAW conversion file but only for versions 6.0 and 7.0. So they are adopting the Microsoft approach. My next computer will be an Apple and it will be goodbye and good riddance to Microsoft and Adobe.
