This is a good basic tripod. Much sturdier than many others I've seen in this price range. Smooth controls. Very easy to use and easy for our children (ages 10 and 13) to use with the digital camcorder. Comes with two parts to connect the camera to the stand, so you can pre-attach the connections to two different items (e.g., a camcorder and a camera) and quickly attach and detach each to the tripod as needed. The level works OK, but is not positioned as clearly and is not as large as higher end (and higher priced) tripods (e.g., Bogen). Overall, a good value for the price.

This tripod is very good. The only one bad thing I can think of is all the plastic. The knobs and crank are all plastic, giving this tripod a cheap feeling.

I guess all the budget tripods are probably similar. I was a bit disappointed by how cheaply made the tripod is. It's just a bunch of plastic which makes me worried about bending a leg or snapping off a cheap joint.
But it does do the job. It's too light to be very steady, but it holds your camera and allows you stability in the absence of wind. It has a hood on the bottom from which you can tie a bag of rocks for extra stability. And it comes with two quick-change plates - a nice feature for such a budget item.

I would have done this sooner but we have a some family emergencies come up and I haven't done it. I got my item fast and with no problem. The tri-pod was in wonderful condition and the price was great!
Made of cheap plastic; arrived with 3 broken parts [Posted on 2008-03-01]
I received this tripod as a gift. It has been a while since I have seen such a flimsy product as this. It is made of low quality plastic and very thin aluminum. On top of all that, it arrived with 3 broken pieces. I would not buy this for any amount.
