Customer Reviews:

Avoid at all costs! [Posted on 2006-05-07]
Even if someone offers to give you this printer for free, don't take it. I wasted $100 on it. I think I got about 10 copies before the black ink cartridge ran out. It never feeds the paper correctly, constant paper jams. Visiting the Canon website and following all of their troubleshooting steps has not worked. I threw this thing away. The scanner works OK but that's about it.

DO NOT BUY A CANON!!! [Posted on 2007-01-04]
Had the printer about a year, when suddenly something called a waste ink absorber became full. It has a fault code on the screen, that has to be cleared by a technician. I could not remember when I bought it, so Canon is saying it must of been over a year and will not honor the warranty. Service location is too far away. No offer from Canon to mail it in for repair. Just a lame offer of a 15% customer loyalty discount on an MP160.. for a total of about $75-80. That in addition to the $100 plus I laid out for this piece of junk would total nearly $200 in the span of about a year on low end printers. Not to mention the paper feed started acting up. Loyalty my foot, I bought a $30 Lexmark all in one on sale at Walmart to replace it. In my estimation they all have about the same quality of printing and construction (if I want photo's printed I'll go to the drugstore or order them online, why waste ink on low quality prints from a home printer?)I have a Canon digital camera (A510) which is fine, but after this little bait and switch quality fiasco. I'll probably buy another brand of camera as well, when the time comes. Thumbs down for Canon on quality and customer appreciation!

Bought it, Love it, Rely On it [Posted on 2007-01-16]
I got this scanner/copier/printer when I wanted to do a photo-collage and send it to 150 people for wedding thank-yous, and I wished I had bought it sooner for the wedding invites [which I also designed in Adobe Photo-Shop--sold separately!] I've never regretted it! I got it new for just over a hundred with tax, I've had it for a year and a half, and it was money well spent! Staples sells knockoffs of the ink cartridges, so I save a few dollars there...One minor criticism: When making copies, the two-line, unlighted L.E.D. display is less-than-ideal, but I mostly use it for printing stuff from the web. Works great as a scanner also, esp. with PhotoShop.

My Canon Pixma MP130 [Posted on 2007-07-16]
I was using my Canon Pixma MP130 All-in-One Photo printer almost everyday and was very happy with it until suddenly something called a waste ink absorber became full. It has a fault code on the screen and you have to take it to a printer repair service to have the code removed and replace the waste ink absorber. I've never heard of such a thing and am very unhappy about it. I'm sure the printer repair service guys love Canon. What a rip off!

A little workhorse [Posted on 2007-10-06]
I bought this Pixma 26 months ago. Before this I had a Canon MP360 and loved it. I had to leave the MP360 with someone else when I came out here. Man that was an amazing printer. But it was discontinued. At the time I got this MP130, I had to be very price conscious. The MP130 completely fit the bill. For myself, all my printers will all be Canon until further notice. So that narrowed the field considerably. You might wonder why such loyalty to Canon? Okay, I'll tell you. Canon is high quality no matter how much you pay. In addition, the cost of operation is very low. Ink cartridges are less expensive and widely available from hundreds of sources both online and offline.
As for this MP130, it has done all asked of it. It prints high quality photos which is amazing since it only uses two cartridges (black & color). It prints crisp text with no smudging or blurring. It scans perfectly. It copies accurately. I don't know if this printer is still available, but if it is, and you need a printer for under $100 that is very low cost to operate, you cannot go wrong with this MP130.
I will add that mine now works much better with this 24# paper I just got. It's a bit thicker and the printer seems to really love it, you know? Printers are people too! smile.
In conclusion, have had this MP130 for 26 months and never needed to call for repairs or do any repairs. Just change the ink when it asks and run the deep clean cycle every four or five months. I WISH I had something bad to say about it so I could convince myself to get something new.
