Completely Satisfied [Posted on 2005-09-02] You get the best results with the OEM inks. Colors are truer and even the printed word has more detail.
The Only Choice [Posted on 2007-01-11] If you intend to print color photos with your Epson printer, this is the only valid choice of cartridges.
A flash of color. [Posted on 2007-01-19] The print quality is excellent in my Epson Photo Printer, using Epson photo papers. However, the cartridge gets used up very fast. It would be cheaper to edit my digital photos and upload them to Shutterfly for printing. If the printer isn't used for a while the heads clog and can require a prolonged, ink-wasting cleaning session.
Poor quality control [Posted on 2007-03-17] The original box that the cartridge came with, was crushed. The shipping carton was in perfect condition. Obviously Amazon tried to get rid of a damaged item. Fortunately the cartridge survived.
So much for customer concern.
Some Assembly Required [Posted on 2008-08-24] I bought this for an aging Epson Stylus Photo 870 that is only used for general duty printing now.
For some reason it requires you to snap a piece with a chip on it onto the main body of the cartridge. I'm thinking this is a patent workaround. It's not obvious which way it goes on so it requires a pictorial instruction sheet. It took me about 2 mins to figure out. After assembly, it drops into the printer like a regular Epson cartridge. While it worked right away, about a week into use the printer thought there was no ink left. Taking it out of the printer and putting it back in seems to have solved the problem. I think it was bad contact with the chip.
For the amount of money saved vs. a genuine Epson cartridge, it is perfectly acceptable for printing color web pages on plain paper. I haven't tried it for photos on glossy paper, but I'm also not planning to.
