Toner does not flake off [Posted on 2008-05-08] Printer works great. User who says toner flakes off did not set paper type for cardstock/labels or likely didn't use the correct LASER labels. Works fine when you do the above.
Not Good for Designers [Posted on 2008-05-12] CON: This printer is terribly slow. Especially if you are sending color documents from any Adobe Creative Suite program. Often, the printer will fail to print the document at all. I even expanded the memory to 128 MB, but this did nothing to speed the printer up.
Do not purchase this printer if you are planning on printing from any program other than, say, Word or PowerPoint, but heck - that's slow as molasses as well. My Epson inkjet is twice as fast even on a black and white documents printed from Word.
PRO: Nice color right out of the box.
Perfect [Posted on 2008-05-19] Works very well and give great color proofs. As a graphic artist I appreciate having a color printer that gives good quality output and works well when giving clients proofs. Very good product for the price.
Quicker, but blows thru toner [Posted on 2008-06-27] I like the quality of the prints and the convenience of both the networking and the duplex. The speed is pretty decent and the thing hardly ever jams.
What I do not like, however is the toner usage. Several people at HP are putting kids through college on what this thing uses. Be ready to buy a ton of replacements.
The other bother is it just stops when it thinks it is out of toner, even though you can still get 25-50 more prints out of it before needing to replace them. It goes through more expensive toner faster than my previous Minolta Magicolor.
It seems like a deal, but the consumables are quick to go out. I find I get 1000 prints with moderate pages (I publish my clubs newsletter) before they run out.
If cost is no object on that front, everything else is flawless. I have yet to have a jam and I print lables and 800 sheets a month, and duplexing is great.
Excellent Network colour printer [Posted on 2008-09-07] After 1 1/2 years I printed out my usage: 12716 pages printed, monochrome 5848, color 6823, duplex 4528, Pages jammed 17, pages mispicked 0.
This has been a truly reliable printer which is networked to 3 computers at home. I noticed that jams were more likely to occur with unsual stock paper if you do not tell the printer what you are using. Pages printed included mailing address labels, envelopes and certificates.
The print quality is first class. The duplex feature ( double sided printing is truly first rate and reduces your paper consumption). I am truly very satisfied. Buy this printer and expand your world.
