Who would put their name on this? [Posted on 2008-07-29] Apparently HP would, but I don't know why. The s/w is buggy, and documentation (on a disk, you provide the printer) is simply ridiculous. There are numerous arcane uptions in configuration that the manual doesn't mention. I guess if you just want a cool toy, this would be great, but I need a TOOL; the apparently insurmountable issues with synchronization render this thing all but useless to me. Also, it just FEELS fragile; every time I pull the stylus out, my fingernail catches the trim that doesn't quite fit right, so I know it won't last long. I'll go back to my clunky but reliable 2210. I guess Amazon will charge me a 15% restocking fee, but I'll write that off to lessons learned about mail order.
Great Idea, Disappointing Performance [Posted on 2008-08-01] The HP 111 was exactly the type of PDA I was looking for: wireless capabilities, syncs to Outlook, no phone. Setup was fairly simple, it synced immediately with my Outlook calendar, and the wireless internet capablility has come in very handy. It works great....WHEN it works. All the good points have been overshadowed by the fact that on more than one occasion, the battery has gone from fully charged to completely dead overnight, without use, and for no apparent reason. When this happens, it requires about 30 minutes connected to the A/C charger to fully charge the battery again (USB charger is worthless when this happens). Needless to say, this is a very inconvenient occurance. I haven't seen this problem mentioned in any other reviews, so maybe mine is a fluke but I would recommend keeping it in mind when considering purchasing this PDA.
Great product [Posted on 2008-08-07] Have been using this for several weeks with no issues. I sync to my home computer using Windows Mobile Device Center and to my work computer using Active Sync with absolutely no issues! Have used the wireless function without issues. All in all, a great PDA!!
this is a great pda [Posted on 2008-08-13] This is a great overall device. It loads programs very quickly, and so far has handled just about everything I throw at it. I used to own a palm tungsten e2, but after using this I will probably never buy another palm product. The screen is huge and browsing the web on this device is just about as good as on a desktop computer or laptop. The pages load very Quickly and the only page I have found it cannot load is youtube, because my web browser has no flash support(I am using Opera browser 9.5 beta).I like to add third party applications and so far I have not encountered any problems with adding programs to the device. the only thing that bothers me is that the battery life on this is not as good as in my palm. they both use the same size battery, but the Ipaq has so much more processing power, it is not even a fair comparison. The build Quality is very good, and the Ipaq feels very good in the hand thanks to it's rubberized back panel.
overall, I would strongly recommend this device for anyone looking for a good pda with lots of functionality.
HP iPAQ 111 Handheld [Posted on 2008-08-13] Great product came on time and was in great condition as it was refurbished. The longer I have it and learn the options it has the more fun I have and the more useful the handheld becomes.
