Exciting and fun with some small nits in electronic version [Posted on 2008-12-25] I bought this game a few months ago and have since played it several times with both close friends and at larger gatherings. This game is probably best up to about 14 people.
Electronic catch phrase is highly addictive and in my opinion is better than the print version because it speeds up the game play. There is a huge memory in this version so you can play a long time before you start seeing repeat words. The size and ease of using the controls is great and well made. Overall, it is also very durable for an electronic game.
Pros:
- Light, portable design
- Easy to start and play (little setup)
- Fun and exciting for groups
- Large word list
- Category selection
Cons:
- No off switch
- No volume switch
Overall: I highly recommend this game to everyone as a house staple for any parties that you may have or for a fun group/family night.
Very disappointed! [Posted on 2008-12-27] The first version of this game is one of my very favorites. I thought I was upgrading by buying the electronic version. Boy, was I mistaken. Four of us playing in one evening - less than two hours - went through ALL the words and phrases. What do we do now?
Good game for teams [Posted on 2008-12-27] Played this game three straight nights during holidays. Teams were boys vs. girls, or old vs. young, etc...and it was a blast. Good for all ages -- we had a 9 year old playing and he did fine, with the oldest player in her 60's. Provided a lot of laughs.
Only drawback was that after two nights of use, we started recycling through phrases...I would have hoped that given it is an electronic version, it could have a lot more phrases stored in "memory". Am guessing that in a few weeks if used with a different group of people, it would be fine, since other people would give "clues" and be guessing answers. Still recommend highly.
Fun for all [Posted on 2008-12-28] I bought this for my grandson who is 12 years old. He really likes playing it. I also have a friend who has it and us grownups play it all the time. It is a good time for all!!
Lots of Fun for Kids of all ages [Posted on 2008-12-29] I have a 9 year old and a 6 year old and they love this game. The words or phrases that come up are not too hard and have taught them additional vocabulary. The other nice thing is the game is very interactive and the kids really enjoy playing with the older kids (parents). Many games are not built for enjoyment for several age groups but this one is.
