When Oprah offered $50 off coupon, my husband and I bought Kindles for each other for Christmas. Well, of course, we couldn't wait to load them up with books and start reading. We took them on a cruise (first time I didn't have to take fewer books than I thought I would finish on a ship!) and we really enjoyed the freedom of this lightweight and easy to use electronic book. We also became "Kindle Tour Guides" as a couple of dozen folks on the cruise asked us if we liked them and could they get a closer look? Met some really nice folks that way - and they were interesting folks, because they were frequent readers. Looking forward to more magazines and newspapers being on the Kindle. Only critique for possible improvement is that when reading books with lots of charts and graphs in them, the data gets misaligned sometimes - much like reading email on a blackberry would do. Amazon is so easy to use for downloads and so far we have found most best sellers that we wanted to read in our Kindle store. Love it.

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my Kindle. It was more than I ever expected it to be. I was extremely pleased to see that the User's Manual is programmed into the device itself eliminating the need of carrying the book wherever you go. The dictionary is also a greatly appreciated option. With the adjustable font sizes, I am able to read without my glasses. Thanks Amazon for such a great product.

My husband gave me a kindle and I love it. I am currently read The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. I love the weight of the kindle over holding a large book.
The only problems is I can not download books unless I hook it up to my computer. I also wanted to download my audio books from Audibledownloads and I get an error message. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks for listening.

I had my Kindle for 1 month. I used it every day and then it just froze which I guess means my battery is out of juice. Amazon is out of batteries so I can't use my Kindle for a least a month. Wish the battery had longer life.

I was expecting a lot from a device I paid $357 for. What I got was a lot and more!!! I have barely put the Kindle down since I have gotten it. I am downloading like crazy both books and samples. I check the weather every night before turning out the reading light. The Kindle is just like reading a book only easier. If you like to hold a book or save books this is not the device for you. If you like portability and endless choices this will be your new toy. There are only a couple of things that I don't like but would not have kept me from purchasing - #1) I would like to have had a reading light on it either in backlighting or an actual built in light on the device as I read in bed while the husband is sleeping. #2) I don't like that you can't choose any book from anytime to download; only new books since the Kindle's conception are available. There are old books I would like to have on the device say like the Harry Potter series...all that may come in time. Bottom line - for me this is an awsome device. I just bought another for my 80 year old dad for Christmas. He has arthritis and dementia but can use mine with ease and love's it! Way to go Amazon and Jeff Bezos!!!
