Died the third time I used it [Posted on 2008-12-25] I bought a 1GB for my friend a few years ago and was always jealous I didn't have one myself. This year someone got me the 8GB for christmas. I used it to transfer about 500MB and when I plugged it into my computer the second time it mounted, loaded for 1/2 a second, disappeared (with an error message) and won't show up again on any machine I've tried- mac or windows. Ridiculous. I am so disappointed as I was really excited to get this.
Don't ignore the negative reviews- this thing is garbage. And very unfortunate, because if it worked, it'd be the slickest flash drive around.....
my apologies to KingMax [Posted on 2008-12-25] I feel like a complete idiot. I originally wrote a review saying it did not work. I was actually plugging it in upside down......... The problem was that it fits both ways, so I just assumed that the label was supposed to face up. Unfortunately, I can't change my rating for some reason.... Likely, I would rate this 5 stars.
Broke within 3 days [Posted on 2008-12-29] I got this product for Christmas. It's barely 4 days later (the 29th) and while my PC picks it up, it shows the capacity as 0 and won't read it. My Mac won't pick it up at all.
Washer and Dryer proof? This thing isn't even "sit on your desk in the silicone cover it came with" proof. Complete garbage, don't waste your time.
Works but horribly slow! [Posted on 2009-01-01] I found this flash drive way too slow for my uses,
plus it is so small that I had to put it on a fairly
large chain to keep track of it. PLus when you pull
it out, you have to really get your fingers and thumb
close to the hardware and it is awkward. Nice idea
but not really workable. Its speed is the biggest drawback.
Nice to have [Posted on 2009-01-07] I've noticed a few other reviews where people complained that their unit had died, but (knock on wood) I've had mine for a while now, and it is still working fine. BTW: I did throw away that rubber pink holder thingy on the first day, and only kept the actual thumb drive.
Pros:
It is indeed quite small in physical size. Quite covert. ;-)
It reads and writes just as well as any other thumb drive that I've used.
Cons:
It throws other people off when they see it, and they can't grasp the concept that it fits into the USB port.
I'm only docking a point because I wish it were faster, and that pink rubber thingy was a tasteless waste.
