Customer Reviews:

Advertised Package [Posted on 2003-01-14]
The Camera is supposed to come with a Camera Dock and bonus CF card, this is a big part of why I chose this camera. I did not get these. I am very disappointed. I am still trying to contact Amazon.com to get this resolved.

Great camera [Posted on 2003-11-15]
I've had this camera for over a year now, and still love it. The docking station makes it easy to transfer pictures with the push of a button, and it also works as a battery charger. The camera itself takes great pics in any light setting, as the flash is dependable. To save power, I now turn the LCD screen off, until I'm ready to review the pictures I've just taken.

I think where the photos are processed makes a huge difference in photo outcome. I decided to upload three of the same photos to the three leading photo processing companies available on the web: Ofoto, Snapfish, and Walmart. Ofoto won, hands down, but I recommend you try it for yourself. The difference is amazing, and you can't tell if it was originally a 35mm or digital print.

Great camera [Posted on 2004-02-24]
I have this camera about two years. I love it because it takes great pictures. The quality of the picture is just great. It has 2.2 MP but it takes the sharper photos than other camera that has 3.1 MP. It uses less memory to have 2.2 MP photos versus 3.1 MP. And the smaller size of the photos make you easier to send to friend and family via email.
Another advantage is that it is very solid. I have drop this camera more than 5 times on to the ground(Sorry, I am so careless when I was travelling) and each time It survived without any problem. It Only make the battery lid loose, but still working.
Disadvantage: Battery life is short. You can only take about 100 photos for a new set of battery.

Lots of problems!!! [Posted on 2004-07-14]
When we first got the camera, we were impressed. It was easy to use, and the pictures that we took printed out very nicely.

However, after having the camera for a few months, we started to see the following problems.

1. POOR BATTERY LIFE
After only a couple of weeks of use, the rechargeable battery that came with the camera would only take 5-6 shots before dying. We kept the camera contantly on the dock, so it should not have run out. I assumed it was a defective battery and bought some desposable batteries for it, but had a similar problem. With a brand new battery, it would take 20-30 shots and it would fail to work.

2. RANDOM POWERING OFF
This was really annoying. After several months of use, the camera started turning itself off frequently. Sometimes I have to restart it 4-5 times to get it to stay turned on. Even then, it will often turn itself off when trying to take the picture. I have 3 small kids, and I have missed so many shots because of this.

3. LONG PAUSE BEFORE SNAPPING PICTURE
I know this is not a defect, but is probably by design (probably the auto-focus working), but there is a half second pause between the time you push the button and the picture actually takes. We have missed many shots because of that as well.

I hate to say it, but I will not buy a Kodak camera again. It's too bad, because when this did work properly, the pictures were really good and the dock is really a good idea. We eventually decided to buy a new, higher end camera (Fuji Finepix S7000). We will see how that turns out :)

Think twice! [Posted on 2004-10-22]
The good news: My DX3600 camera worked beautifully for a few months. The bad news: Then it developed what Kodak calls "power problems." The rechargeable batteries do not hold a charge. The disposable batteries do not operate the camera consistently. The camera turns itself off immediately after turning on (and sometimes won't turn on at all). I've talked with many other users who have this problem, and I believe it is a defect of this model. Kodak charges very high fees (over $100) for even minor repairs when the warranty has expired, so I cannot afford to get the camera fixed. I am going to stomp on my DX3600 (just for petty satisfaction) and toss it into the trash, then buy a new digital camera from a different manufacturer. I have no confidence that this problem would not recur with other models from the same maker, so I'm going to look farther afield. I wish someone had told me about this defect before I bought my DX3600 two years ago--I've missed many great shots due to the "power problem." Please do yourself a favor and think twice (better yet, three times) before you purchase this model!
