Definately good quality but don't really need it [Posted on 2006-05-06] Bogen is definately a highly recommended brand. I got the carrying strap expecting it to make my life muc easier. In the end I prefer to just cary the tripod in my hand instead of hanging another object over your shoulder. The strap has a rubber inside which prevents the strap from slipping off your shoulder. Very nice feature. Again it's just my preferance to cary the tripod instead.
Bogen Tripod Strap [Posted on 2007-05-02] Nice tripod carrying strap. I bought it for my Bogen 3001 tripod, perfect length for carrying over shoulder. Looped end slips off and on easily to be ready to shoot. Has a nonslip surface also.
High quality but short sighted engineering [Posted on 2008-11-24] I purchased this at the same time as the tripod thinking it would be really nice to carry it with. One side of the strap has a clip for a bracket built on the tripod. The clip is a little too large, and the bracket is too close to other parts that make it harder than it should to clip on and off. Ok, I could live with that.... It is the other side that is the real problem. The other end is just a lasso type loop. It doesn't really attach to anything, it just loops around the legs of the tripod and is held there by tension.
If one just loops it between the feet and the first expansion joint, then a with a little slack it can come loose and let the tripod out of its grip. This happens most often when one just sets it down for a second or two. If one puts the loop between the joints there is no way a little slack will make it let go but it likes to get tangled among the levers, and it takes several seconds to free it. One cannot set up the tripod with the strap lassoed around the legs. Constantly putting it on and off is most time wasting and annoying.
It is just a silly design, and I don't use it very often at all. As a prior reviewer noted, it is just easier to carry the thing in ones hand. The only time I would consider this a useful product would be if I hiked for miles and miles carrying the tripod with me.
