Top-Notch Lens Cleaning Cloth. Makes Swift Work of Oily Fingerprints. [Posted on 2005-10-04] Herbert Keppler has been raving about the Microdear lens cloth in his column in "Popular Photography" magazine since Adorama began importing Microdear cloths from Japan at Keppler's suggestion. I bought one back then, about 6 years ago, and it's still my favorite lens cloth. The Microdear is a blue microfiber cloth with finished edges and a darker blue "Etsumi Photo & Video" logo in the corner. The cloth's texture is plush and closely resembles fine suede. It is thick for a microfiber cloth and very dense. It may not be a coincidence that my second-favorite lens cloth was a thin suede chamois that worked well until the leather began to dry out and flake. The Microdear doesn't dry out, wear out, or shed. And it's washable. It's good with dust, and it removes oily fingerprints better than anything I've used. No need to rub to remove oils. Your lens will be crystal clear with a couple sweeps of the Microdear. It works great on the LCDs of digital cameras too. There is a wider variety of microfiber lens cloths available now than when I bought my Microdear, and I have not tried them all. But the Microdear is still top notch and well worth the cost.
