Great Camera for 1st time digital user [Posted on 2005-01-25] I got the Nikon 2200 for Christmas from my hubby. I usually go on line first and research and compare and check reviews, etc.
Since this was a surprise to me, I was hesitant, because it was my first digital camera and I had planned to purchase a "small" and really easy-to-use one. When I opened the box, I was impressed by the compact size (nice and small) to fit my purse or bag. I love using it because it is "FUN" to just "click-away" at every opportunity. The pictures are sharp and clear. The internal memory only takes about 16 pictures. I purchased an SD card for about 128 photos which is fine for my average photo taking episodes. My hubby was truly surprised I liked it so much, because I usually prefer gift certificates instead of gifts.
However, there's only one down side to the Coolpix 2200: the power runs out FAST! I'll take others' advice and purchase the re-chargeable batteries. Other than that, it is wonderful!
Camera OK, Service Expensive [Posted on 2005-06-18] I purchased this camera as a gift for my wife. She had been looking for an easy to use camera, with lots of features, to keep in her pocket or purse. My daughter had previously purchased the Coolpix 2100 and was very satisfied. So were we, with the 2200, until two weeks ago when it stopped taking photos, for no reason. I followed the warranty procedures since it appears to be under warranty. I just got a "bill" from Nikon, asking me for $138.00 to repair the camera - it cannot be repaired under warranty. No explantion of why it can't be repaired, just send the money and we'll repair it, or we'll ship it back. I wrote Nikon and asked why the repair would cost more than the original price of the camera. No answer yet so we'll see what happens.
surprising [Posted on 2005-07-17] i was skeptical due to friends advice to get the most pixels- but i only take pics for fun and send them to family through email :) its great! and petite like me :)highly recommended for an amateur as their first camera!
good for skin pictures [Posted on 2005-08-28] I use this at my office to photograph skin problems and record them in my patients' charts. excellent macro mode and clear clean detail.
inexpensive 2 megapix but functionally great and simple.
Not an easy to understand Manual, fair pics [Posted on 2005-09-25] The camera overall takes fair pics. Would not recommend this camera. Wanted an easy to use, basic camera for my parents, and I chose this camera based on it's reviews and price. Manual is very difficult even for me to understand. Though the Nikon View software is very user friendly. Indoor pics are not as good as outdoor pics. I'm sure I could do some adjusting, but for my parents who want a point and shoot it is difficult.
