Basic Wireless Remote [Posted on 2008-08-31] I bought the Opteka wireless remote shutter release to use with my Nikon D300. The product works fine. The range is good and so far it's fired flawlessly. It's a good, simple wireless remote release... just wish I'd paid a little less for it.
Mine came apart with the first use. [Posted on 2008-10-16] This unit looked good but the first time I used it the aerial fell off into my hand and the remote function didn't work. Pressing the button on the receiver fired the camera but I already have the Nikon cord that does that. I contacted HK Supplies about my problem with no solution.
Wait until Nikon releases their own remote and save your money. The Nikon remote for the D70 cost only $16.95 and works without an aerial, a much better purchase and one for the D300 will be along soon.
Work great but ... cheap quality [Posted on 2008-10-25] Tested with D3 / D700 / D300.
The remote work just OK (as it should do)
but material look cheap at this price.
Product design is very bad.
Why dip switch in the front? Very ugly.
Look like a DIY project.
Looks Cheap, Set Not Complete [Posted on 2008-10-26] I ordered this remote a few weeks ago. It got to me 4 days later than the "guaranteed" arrival date. Upon opening the box, I found what looks to me like a cheap plastic toy from China. Dismissing my first judgment, I followed the instructions to try it out. There are supposed to be two batteries included in this set. There was only one included, and the plastic package holding that battery had been opened. The battery for the transmitter was not included in the set.
While I've not used this product because it didn't come to me in a complete set, and therefore cannot comment on how it works, I'm completely unimpressed with what I've received and will be returning it promptly.
Works great [Posted on 2008-11-24] I purchased this to use with my D300. It came in a basic no thrills box and came with the batteries. It has worked fine. I went on a three day workshop and used it every day all throughout the day. When I used it all day I left it on the camera the entire time and screwed it into the plug - when in my home studio I just plug it in without screwing it down, it stays on just fine. Overall I probably shot about 1000 pictures with it and it seems to be going fine. If I ever get to the point of convincing myself to put a piece of velcro on my camera, then I will secure it to the camera with a piece of velcro; I'm afraid that it dangling and swinging will eventually put stress on the wires and break them, but so far so good and still velcro free. There are some visible dip switches on the remote, but I didn't buy it for its look, I bought because of the good price. The switches enable you to change the frequency if needed.
