A Great Gift [Posted on 2008-04-26] Ordered for my grandchild who is extremely happy. She is a great aspiring photographer. The price and size were perfect for her camera.
She got twice the GB's for a lot less.
PNY Optima - value for price [Posted on 2008-05-05] I am using this product in my Cannon Power Shot SD1000. So far so good.
Good and fast memory, poor build quality [Posted on 2008-05-27] I have a love/hate relationship with PNY. I've always been enamored with their prices, going back to the days of the GeForce4600 Graphics cards (they were one of the first vendors on the shelves). But they must cut some corners as far as QA is concerned. The plastic housing on all three of these 8GB cards have issues when inserting/ejecting from my Canon HF10, PS3 and Wii. The size of the card is slightly larger than the receptacle. I have the same problem with a Transcend SDHC 16GB card. Odds are, both PNY and Transcend purchase from the same OEM.
I have an 8GB SDHC card from SanDisk. I've never had physical size issues with that card.
I have no complaints as far as speed is concerned. Even though the card is branded as a Class 4 card, the HF10 rates it as a Class 6 and sustained transfer rates are in the 12 - 15MB/s range.
I can't speak to reliability. So far, I haven't had any issues with data retention, but then, I don't use these for long term storage. Nor would I ever recommend anyone use this class of flash for **any** long term storage purposes. That's what tape, CDR and DVDR are for.
8 GB SDHC Card was perfect for me! [Posted on 2008-06-14] I have a Canon A560 that shoots video in addition to photos. My adopted grandson was about to graduate Kindergarten and I wanted to make a video of the event. Called school and they said ceremony would be 1 hour or less (this was important since the A560 will not take video longer than 1 hour). I had been using 1 GB SD cards for photos in this camera, but it was clear from some testing I would need a bigger memory card to take video. So I bought this 8 GB SDHC card. The card was shipped fast and the 42 minute video I took of the graduation came out very good. I had to buy an SDHC card reader to transfer the video from camera to computer, but this 8 GB SDHC card worked perfect and comfortably held 42 minutes of HQ video with room to spare. Happy with purchase and would buy again. Also, the card has a lock/unlock feature to prevent accidental deletions.
Great with Digital Camera [Posted on 2008-07-22] I have a 8 megapixel digital camera and bought this to use with my camera. Before buying, I went to the SD website to make sure that I purchased a memory card from an authorized manufacturer. PNY is listed as a licensee, so I felt good to make the purchase. Once I received it, I placed it in the camera and formatted it (Note: it was not formatted when I received it, so the camera initially did not read it. Once formatted, then there was no problem). I have only just begun to use it. If any problems result, I will update this review.
