APC UPS Battery [Posted on 2008-01-29]
The battery arrived very quickly after ordering and was relatively easy to replace after the UPS was disconnected from all it's wiring. The replacement battery has been working flawlessly to date. The additional thing that I appreciate is that a pre-paid UPS shipping label was included so that I could return the old battery to be disposed of properly.

What can I say about a replacement battery? It works, and replaces the old, worn 3-year old battery in my RS-800. I'm not having the incessant battery warning alarms from the UPS in the middle of the night anymore... Here are some of my salient observations about this purchase:
Kudos to APC for:
1. Designing the UPS and battery for very easy, tool-free replacement. The entire process took two minutes.
2. Idiot-proof installation. There is only one way to install the battery, and that is the correct way.
3. BIG KUDOS for APC's battery recycling program; they included a postage-paid envelope in the box for returning the old battery so that it didn't end up in a landfill somewhere... I dropped the expired battery off at my office's UPS depot, and that was it - no fuss, no hassle.
BTW, I've not been an APC fan in years past as I've had three or four APC UPS units fail in the past 15 years, but this RS-800 has been a joy to use and is very reliable (keeps my iMac very well fed). Plus my old battery survived for three years before requiring replacement, which is a very reasonable service life. The free battery recycling program was major icing on this cake. APC appears to have won me back as an enthusiastic customer...

What can I say, got here on time, works great and took only a couple of minutes to connect. Having seen the batteries that APC uses now I would look for them on the net and see if I could save a little more money. You can easily pull the tape off and remove the wiring from the old batteries, so I have to think I could save another $20 or $30 buying the raw battieries. Happy with the current replacment, will see if they last any longer than the first pack that was almost 3 years to the day. Not sure how APC gets that 3-5 years as I haven't had one of their packs make more than 3 years yet.
