| Brand: Tamron Binding: Electronics Warranty: 6 years warranty
Features: - Since the lens is designed exclusively for digital SLR photography, it provides high image quality in terms of resolution, contrast and flatness of image field
- It employs a new optical system designed to confine the changing angles of incidences of light rays reaching the imager within a certain scope over the entire image field from the center to the periphery, by considering the effects of variances due to zooming
- Peripheral light fall-off is minimized when compared with that of conventional lenses for film cameras so that images are uniformly bright from the center to the periphery
- Complicated mechanisms are built in the compact body thanks to new mechanical artifices. The lens is a multi-purpose zoom lens, yet excellent portability and ease of use are assured. A number of invisible engineering innovations required to downsize the lens, produce high precision parts and increase durability are incorporated in the new AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO since manufacturing this type of zoom lens with such complicated mechanisms inside was almost impossib
- The Zoom Lock prevents unwanted barrel extension when carrying the lens/camera combination
most useful lens [Posted on 2007-02-16] the most useful lens for a digital SLR covers 80% of my need. Great quality
Fantastic lens [Posted on 2007-06-26] Bought this as a companion to the Minolta 5D and have been extremely pleased with the beautiful pictures it captures under all conditions.
Tamron autofocus 18-200 lens for Sony Digital SLR [Posted on 2007-08-10] This is an ideal lens in terms of zoom range and sharpness. I may never take the lens off my camera.
Excellent value for money [Posted on 2008-09-03] I bought this lens to replace the kit lens that came with the Sony Alpha 300. I wanted an all-round lens so I wouldn't have to carry/change multiple lenses. I'm very happy with the results: excellent quality photo's, very easy to use because of the all-purpose 18-200 range.
Some observations:
- Although the lens doesn't feel overly heavy, if you point the camera down, the lens will "zoom in" due to gravity pulling it out. Understandable, but sometimes this feels clumsy. There is a zoom-lock switch btw.
- If you place the anti-direct-sunlight-cap-thingie backwards on the lens (to store it there), you cannot reach the manual focus ring anymore. Understandable, and documented, but still not practical.
Bottomline: very good buy, must-have if you choose to carry 1 lens max.
As good as expected [Posted on 2008-10-08] The lens was purchased to lighten the load in my camera bag by eliminating the kit lens that came with my Sony DSLR with a zoom range of 18-70mm, and another 45-200mm zoom lens that occupied some space. The zoomfunction operates flawlessly and the auto-focus function is extremely accurate, giving me the sharp close-ups that I shoot in my business.Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom Lens for Konica Minolta and Sony Digital SLR Cameras
